Born in New York City to a photographer and dance educator and later the stepchild of a choreographer, Gigi Bashaw (she/they) grew up surrounded by art. Her earliest memories consist of visiting museums, attending concerts, and watching modern dance, whether she liked it or not. They live between their home in New Jersey, family in Connecticut, and NYC, where they attend open studios at Teachers College Columbia.
Gigi graduated from Mount Holyoke College with an B.A. in Geology and spent a chunk of her time there taking printmaking courses and displaying her work. Though primarily a printmaker, they are also exploring the world of installation art and papermaking, with an interest in expanding toward other forms of visual art. You can find their work on their new Instagram account: @gigibashaw.art.
